About Madelyn Blair

Madelyn Blair is dedicated to helping clients turn vision into reality. Her joy is in working with individuals and groups to bring them to another level of accomplishment.

“I have always used strength based processes such as appreciative inquiry to enhance effectiveness and help clients create strong knowledge management strategies, highly productive teams, and powerful learning situations. Crossing the boundaries of culture, gender, and race require a focus on what is brought to the table, not what appears to be missing.”

Her upcoming book, Riding the Current: True Stories and Tested Techniques for Keeping Your Knowledge Fresh and Your Work Alive, will be published shortly by the Taos Institute. In it she relates how 30 people from around the world in fields as diverse as economics and carpentry, medicine and acting, keep themselves fresh, and she lays out simple steps for developing the readers’ plans for doing so.

“Madelyn certainly has her finger on the pulse of the challenges of the worker of the 21st century,” says Denise Lee, Senior Knowledge Management Consultant, PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Dr. Blair has extensive line management experience. She spent 10 years at the World Bank where she was a division chief, creating a new division in response to client needs. This division exists today, more than 20 years after her departure. Dr. Blair also spent five years as Director of Institutional Research at the Universities of Colorado and Maine. Her expertise in institutional analysis developed in those years continues to inform her work. Madelyn is a Taos Institute Associate, co-moderator of Worldwide Story Work, Co-director of the Center for Narrative Studies, and a founding member of Goldenfleece, the story-in-business group of DC.

In her spare time, she is currently leading an international project to bring everyday peace to the world through the use of story. Dr. Blair received her doctorate in organizational psychology from the University of Tilburg, The Netherlands. She writes extensively and is a regular conference speaker.
